I assume a good old fashioned 'book burning' will take place once it is released. These assholes preach 'democracy' and 'freedom of speech. Tossers and hypocrites.
What about what connex and the transit cops are taking part of now which is defacing public property by vadalising and defacing all the pieces writing CTCV all over the lines... We should unite and bring this to the spot light of the media ACA.
Connex is no more! They have been sacked! The Victorian government are replacing them in December!! Good luck with the job hunting John Rees, might see you at Centrelink!
Hey Guys I agree with Peta, you know what they say any publicity is good publicity... Good luck with the release tomorrow and happy financial new year! Looking forward to the opening. x madeleine 'madski' stamer
Would you expect anything less from the ultra safe and conservative Herald Sun? This is the worst type of reactive, public-opinion journalism, aimed at a section of the community this rag panders to, and the greater self lobotomized masses who insulate themselves against anything outside the scope of the main stream, aspires to represent in an attempt to increase circulation. Here’s an idea: Let’s shrink wrap all of our alternative art, literature & film in giant condoms in an attempt to keep them all safe and ooohhhhh so casual, so that they can receive a PG rating and be easily consumed over a skinny cappuccino at Borders. Any chance of a limited edition version of Kings Way without the slipcase but with a giant jimmy hat for the scribes over at the Herald Sun?
I really don't understand where this article is going. The title reads "graffiti book outrage". But outrage from where and from who? It makes a great headline, but based on what exactly?
I think society in general has moved on, the worlds problems are larger and more important that a book celebrating Melbourne's wonderful and prolific graffiti subculture that continues to this day. The Herald Sun is quick to jump on any populist bandwagon that sells papers, that is the nature of gutter journalism. But in reality, it would be safe to say that the people who write these sorts of articles, really don't have they're hearts in it. It's just a headline to read today and forget about tomorrow.
The legacy of this book will live on for decades. Where in stark contrast, the legacy of this article was pretty much over before the ink dried off the press.
...If you want to see someone making money based on the exploits of real criminals in Melbourne. Look no further than this newspapers disgusting promotion and idolisation of murder, kidnapping, drug dealing and sleaze which was the "Underbelly" series.
All for the sole purpose of making a dollar.
Now then tell me where the outrage should be directed.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the comments above, but there is also a positive side to this.
ReplyDeleteThe Herald Sun has just made 100's of people aware of your book that may not have known about it if they had'nt read about it.
What a joke ... it's fine for the media to glamourise & glorify underworld criminals/murderers "underbelly" style though.
